Today, 5/2/23, is a scheduled PeakRewards preseason cycling test event.

A preseason cycling event has been activated to test our PeakRewards system operations and customer communications. To minimize potential customer inconvenience, the event will occur between 10 am and 2 pm. You will not be able to override participation in this cycling event.

If you are enrolled in the PeakRewards Air Conditioning program, your air conditioner will be cycled up to your full cycling level (50%, 75%, or 100%) for the duration of the event.

Replace Air Filters Regularly

Opening curtains during the day will allow sunlight to naturally heat your home. Be sure to close your curtains as the sun sets to help retain the heat from the day.

Reduce Lighting Usage

Be sure to turn off unnecessary lights, utilize natural light during the day, and use LEDs which can save you around $80 over the lifetime of each lightbulb.

Adjust Your Thermostat Settings

If your health permits, try to keep your thermostat set to 68°. For each degree lower than 68° you could save up to 5% on heating costs.

Here are three tips to help your thermostat run efficiently this winter

  1. Threshold Settings: Heat pumps with auxiliary heat can be configured to operate for comfort or energy savings.
  2. Comfort Settings: During the colder months, BGE recommends that you schedule your thermostat to the following winter heat set points. Sleep – 66°, Home – 68°, Away – 64°
  3. Alerts: Alerts can be set for runtime, outdoor temperature, low temperature, and high temperature. These can help to ensure you are aware of the changes to your thermostat
